Destiny Plan Q’s: Preface

I will be answering the Destiny Plan Questions that Mark Albion poses in his book, More Than Money in order to figure out what I want to be, where I want to go, and how I should get there. I will try not to edit my answers much so that they are real and top-of-mind. Your suggestions and questions are welcome. 🙂

Q1) What do you see when you look in the mirror? How would you describe yourself?

A1) I see a natural, healthy woman with ambition. She is young with a lot of life and potential in front of her. She is curious about the world around her and wonders how she fits in. She wonders what she will do with her day since she is in between school and looking for a job. Despite the many job rejections, she is positive and hopeful. At least, she is today.

Q2) How would you like to be remembered after you are gone? What would you like your eulogy to be?

A2) I would like to remembered as someone who was compassionate toward all types of people and genuinely wanted to help people live better. People should remember me for the philanthropic work I do in my business and personal life. I want to be remembered as a family-oriented person who spent a lot of time with family and friends as well.

Q3) In your lifetime, what will your contribution be?

A3) My contribution will be creating more sustainable businesses or helping existing businesses be more sustainable. The earth will be less polluted because of my efforts. Families will manage their money better because of my efforts. I will advocate for children and the environment through business and government because they cannot be a loud enough voice for themselves.

Q4) What does “contribution” or “service” mean to you? What role does the concept play for you in having a “meaningful life”?

A4) Contribution means giving a part of your skills, values, or assets toward a larger purpose or goal. Service means actively giving your skills, time, and effort to accomplish a goal for another person or organization. Both of these need to be part of me in order to have a meaningful life. I think I can contribute to society through working, paying taxes, and building better businesses. I also think I can serve my community, nation, and world by setting aside extra time to help a cause in need.
