Who Are You?: Destiny Plan Q’s

“If the things we believe are different than the things we do, there can be no true happiness.”  – David O. McKay, Ninth president of the Mormon Church

I love this quote at the beginning of chapter 1 in More Than Money because it enforces your true identity. You can’t be happy saying one thing and doing another. You must be consistently real to yourself and the world in order to be at peace.

Q1) What are you passionate about?

A1) I am passionate about helping people live healthier, happier lives. I want people to enjoy a beautiful, clean environment. I want people to feel financially secure and have time to spend with family and friends. I want people to have fun, live in the moment sometimes, and help each other. I want to accomplish this through my personal and business life.

Q2) Describe your perfect day. What does your description tell you?

A2) My perfect day would be spent outside in the warm summer sun with family and friends. We would go for a morning hike and then stop at a local coffee shop on the way home, drinking on the patio and chatting about our lives. In the afternoon we would have a picnic of fresh sandwiches, fruit, and salad. Then we would go to a park to play volleyball and tennis. In the evening we would BBQ and everyone would bring a healthy side dish and then we would indulge in ice cream sundaes. The night would end with us sipping sangria by a bonfire, reliving old times, dreaming about future plans, and laughing endlessly.

Basically, this is what I want my summer bday to be like every year 🙂

English: Fallen leaves on the path The path is...

Q3) What did you love to do when you were around 11/12 years old?

A3) I loved to run around in the woods behind our house with brothers, climbing trees and building forts. I loved to write short stories and attempt to illustrate them. I loved to play sports with my friends and parents.

Q4) Do you do things that are at odds with what you believe in? If so, what are they and why do you do them?

A4) I am starting to be really focused on money, which is not what I believe in. I’m trying to get paid more and sell things for higher prices. This is not to say I am screwing people over, it’s just that I didn’t used to be like this. I think the major change is that I’m graduated now, about to start my first job after my MBA, and I am worried about my school debt. I want to be financially secure – not filthy rich.

Without money

Another thing I do – or don’t do rather – is tell people to recycle or be responsible about their consumption choices. I have a strong opinion on how people should treat the earth, consume products, and take care of their bodies. I want to be vocal about these thoughts without chastising or criticizing them. It’s a tough line, but overall I think I need to speak up more about what I believe in, especially since I think it will help them have a better life.

Show people what they should be dong by setting an example on how to treat the land.

You are so right Alex. I definitely try to be the best example in my own life, but I think conversations are so important to learning and changing behavior.

Yes I agree, if you set an example you can also through conversation say “look what I am doing…”

I'd love to hear your opinion (good or bad)!
