How To Get Your Guy Involved In Wedding Planning

how to get your guy involved in wedding planning | bexbernard.comWedding planning falls to the bride, whether she wants a big or small wedding. Guys just don’t seem to care that much. Maybe it’s the details, maybe it’s not masculine enough, maybe they’re just lazy. I know I’m stereotyping, but this is my experience and all of my friends.

I’m not saying my guy isn’t involved and doesn’t care about our wedding. He will listen to me talk about wedding planning, but he doesn’t want to make a decision on very many details. I read The Don’t Sweat Guide For Weddings: Get More Enjoyment Out of One of the Most Important Events in Your Life (Don’t Sweat Guides) and a concept really stood out to me: if your guy isn’t as in to the wedding as you are, find out what he is in to. For Tyler, it was travel. He loves going to new places and dreams about visiting other countries. It was a no-brainer that he would get excited about our honeymoon, so that became his main task!

He is also in charge of the music/DJ, but you better believe I’m including him in other decisions. He is going to listen to me rattle on about the size of tables, sparklers, and the latest nautical item I found on Pinterest. Bottom line: no one wants to do something they hate, so pick things the other person will enjoy doing.
