Remodeled Kitchen Fully Revealed
As you may have read in this blog post, we remodeled our kitchen and dining room 100 days before our wedding. The rehearsal dinner was at our home. It was so fun (yet a lot of work) hosting our family and friends in a ‘new’ home! Tyler and I did the demo and painting, but our contractor, Mike, did all the remodel work. We are so happy with how it turned out! The remodeled kitchen was finished a few weeks before the wedding and the dining room was finished a week before the wedding.
Our house was pretty disorganized and crazy, but it was definitely worth it. We didn’t have a dishwasher before, the counters and floors were really hard to keep clean because of the low grout and tile ‘lip’. Later I will post Before and After photos, but for now, here’s a tour!
I love that this is my new view when I get home. Usually there’s a big Saint Bernard there too!
The simple white cabinet style makes the remodeled kitchen looks instantly clean and organized. Before we had a countertop microwave. It’s nice having less stuff on the counter.
We purchased appliances from Sears on Memorial Day and benefited from huge savings on our stainless steel Kenmore appliances. We bought a fridge, microwave/hood, stove, and dishwasher.
I wanted to keep the bar we had and Tyler wanted more cabinets. The kitchen is such a social place where housemates and guests naturally congregate. I won, so we have a little bar/breakfast nook. We will need to buy new barstools.
This is the view from the remodeled dining room. The bar area has a window with a not-so-great view, but the sunlight is nice. Our custom bookshelf in the dining room supports the remodeled kitchen granite.
This is the full view from the dining room. The kitchen walls are blue and the dining room walls are gray.
One door leads downstairs, the other is our pantry with shelves Tyler made.
I love wine and have a bunch of wine and margarita glasses. A carpenter custom made this oak wine rack for our kitchen. It’s our main ‘fun’ addition to the kitchen.
Here’s the full front view of the wood wine rack. It was designed with a curve similar to a wine barrel.
Definitely the best function of the new remodeled kitchen is the dishwasher. I have always HATED doing dishes and this house never had one. Hello, 2014. Usually dishwashers are right next to the sink, but due to the small kitchen and layout restrictions, we put it in the corner (which was Tyler’s idea that I was skeptical about) and it works great!
Finally, here’s the full view! We are so excited about the finished kitchen and love using it everyday!
