Nautical Bedroom – Home Decor Ideas
As you know if you have read any of my wedding blog posts, we had a nautical themed wedding at Foss Waterway Seaport in Tacoma. Tyler and I grew up in a small coastal town and love the water. The venue, theme, and our history were all very fitting. Eventually, we will own a home by the water or with a view of the water. I have been obsessed with anchors for the past year (think bridesmaids gifts, wedding, necklaces, scarves, etc.) and have some wedding decorations left over.
Our longest roommate moved out about a month ago and now that we have more time, we have started redecorating her room. It’s weird calling it a guest room since it has been “Dena’s Room” longer than I have even lived in Tyler’s house. You can see where I’m going with this… we are turning her room into a nautical bedroom with new paint, wedding decorations, and wedding gifts!
Like the good market researcher that I am, I have scoured blogs and Pinterest (see my home decor board) for nautical bedroom ideas before actually painting the room. Below are some of my favorites!
The Thinking Closet blog has tons of good ideas… and I thought that was before I saw she remodeled her master bedroom with a nautical theme!
We had glass floats as part of our wedding centerpieces. They are classic, beautiful and simple. I love that they made this one into a lamp. Doesn’t this look like a perfect place to read?
I REALLY wanted to have a blue and white striped wall in our guest room, but didn’t want to do the work! haha. I think making the straight lines would drive my OCD self crazy because they wouldn’t be perfect. I also like the lifesaver on the bed that is completely not functional, but cute.
If only I had a little boy… he would have half a ship protruding through the wall. Alas, I only have a nephew who was our ring bearer and thought he was a pirate instead of a sailor. 🙂 My brother is extremely handy and has already remodeled most of their home, but I have a feeling he won’t do this major overhaul. haha!
Wreaths are so in right now. Or have they always been in? Anyway, this ship helm wreath is so fun!
I love the room with the re-purposed wood headboard. Love the glass float lamp too.
That room is my favorite! I think our bed will be against a window, so might not be able to do a headboard.
Y’all are too sweet! Thanks so much for including our Rustic Nautical Master Bedroom in this round-up of inspiration, Becca. Can’t wait to see how your guest room turns out. Hugs!
Thanks Lauren! Hopefully we will have it done next weekend. The paint is dry! Thank goodness for Blog Inspiration!
What colors did you use for the stripes
I didn’t paint this bedroom, it’s just an idea for me. The blue I used in my nautical room is “Peaceful Night” by Behr though!
