The Nautical Wedding I Would Have Had

Rustic nautical wedding in Pacific Northwest with anchor decorations and hay bales. | bexbernard.comI helped my grandma, mom, aunt, and cousin cater a wedding in my parents’ hometown. I was delightfully surprised to find it was a nautical themed wedding, just like mine was last year. I loved all the decorations and casual feel. Basically, if I would have been married in a cow pasture, this would have been it.

We prepared and served all of the food buffet style. The bride’s father grilled the marinated chicken.

This is how we set up the buffet line. First, plates, silverware, and napkins. Then the salad bar with lots of fixin’s. Bread and fruit were next. Basically, try to have people fill up on the less expensive and healthier options at the beginning.

Then, we served the fruit salad, baked beans (vegetarian and meat options), scalloped potatoes, and lastly, the chicken.

They had a cute bar with a ship helm and strips of blue, white, and yellow fabric.

This is the small, beautiful anchor wedding cake for the bride and groom to cut. We served Costco cheesecake with drizzles of fruit syrup or chocolate buffet style for the guests. I borrowed basically the same burlap and lace table runners from one of Tyler’s friends.

The centerpieces were rustic using purple and white flowers, wood chunks, and a framed table number.

Leading up the ceremony was this fun sign that read, “Choose a seat, not a side. We’re all family once the knot is tied.” I took this photo after the ceremony, so everyone moved their chairs in to the reception tent. They were the same chairs from my aunt and uncle that were at my wedding.

The bride and groom were married under a cute, simple arch made from wooden ladders and decorated with blue and yellow flowers and white poofs.

Outside of the tent where the food was, they had lots of activities. I loved this directional sign.

The bride’s cousins pulled together a fun, DIY photo booth.

Two of the games were “Montana Golf” (everyone seems to have a different name for this) and a bean bag toss.

It was a very fun wedding! A lot of work for us catering, but luckily we have experience. 🙂 If you attended my wedding or follow my blog, you can see this was totally my type of wedding!

Thank you for sending the pix. I did not see a lot of that but knew there was lot of work from the famlies on the ideas and decorating. That was a real fun time.

You’re welcome. There was a lot to see outside of the catering tent! That was fun spending time with you all and we did a good job!

I'd love to hear your opinion (good or bad)!
