Sustainable Enterprise Certificate

I am currently taking the Sustainable Enterprise Certificate through Willamette University at the Portland, Oregon campus. We meet once a month for three days in February, March, and April to learn processes, tools, and strategies to make our organizations more sustainable. This past week was our first session and already I have learned so much. It is great learning from the instructors, but I have also learned a ton from my classmates. This group is a diverse mix of corporate executives, public leaders, MBA students, and Environmental Studies students.

Over the next few posts I will talk more about Life’s Principles from the Biomimicry Institute. The six Life’s Principles are as follows:

  • Evolve to Survive
  • Be Resource (Material and Energy) Efficient
  • Adapt to Changing Conditions
  • Integrate Development with Growth
  • Be Locally Attuned and Responsive
  • Use Life-Friendly Chemistry

Biomimicry professionals are fascinating thought-leaders who find inspiration and guidance through nature. I am excited to reflect and act on what I have learned thus far.

I'd love to hear your opinion (good or bad)!
