The Seattle Wedding Show

Last weekend I attended the Seattle Wedding Show with my fiancé’s two sisters and mom. It was really fun and slightly overwhelming. One of his sisters has been married for eight years and the other just got engaged on Christmas Day. The engaged sister, Clare, invited me to go with them or else I would have missed it. Although I have most of the major wedding pieces in place, I wanted to experience a wedding show as a bride.

My favorite part was the cake tasting, but by the end I felt like my teeth were rotting out. We still need to figure out our wedding cake, so I loved seeing the beautiful styles and tasting delicious flavors. In my opinion, the best tasting cake was from Pinkabella and the best looking cakes were at Celebrity Cake Studio. I also enjoyed looking at the vendor booths that ranged from ornate and detailed, to crafty and simple. There was a style for everyone.

The main vendors I wanted to get information from were for travel and honeymoons. Sandals was represented the most and they did have enticing packages. The website photos are so beautiful, I don’t see why anyone wouldn’t want to go to those places.

I registered at Macy’s and got a nice wooden spoon from the Anolon Advanced Tools Natural Beechwood 5-Piece Tool Set. I didn’t get a gift when I set up a wedding registry at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, but I was going to register there anyway.

Overall, I had a lot of fun with my soon-to-be-sisters-and-mom-in-law. I didn’t sign up with any vendors or fall in love with anything in particular. I suggest going to a wedding show early in your planning process like Clare did. If you are looking for specific services and don’t like the experience of large conventions, than it is probably not for you. I heard there would be a lot of swag, but I mostly got flyers and brochures, which got heavy toward the end.

I'd love to hear your opinion (good or bad)!
