Iconic Wedding Dates: Story of 11-12-13 Marriage

Are you a ‘numbers person’ looking for the perfect date? Maybe it’s your grandparents’ anniversary, the year after your proposal, or your lucky number. Some of my friends were very particular about their date and what it represented, but for me, it was mostly about the month.

Last year the iconic date was 11-12-13 and one of my brother’s best childhood friends was married on that Tuesday. An estimated 3,000 couples were married on this once-in-a-lifetime date.

Lacey and Bryan

Chantilly (Lacey) MacDonald grew up less than a block away from our house with her twin brother. They were all younger than me, so I mostly knew how the MacDonalds were doing through my brother. The twins lost their mother at a young age and their dad years later. Lacey started dating Bryan McClendon when she was 15 and discovered he was ‘the one’. Fast forward 7 years and they are getting married on 7-7-07! King 5 News featured Lacey and Bryan’s wedding, so you can see the video clip here.

Lacey Walked Down Aisle

Lacey’s brother walked her down the aisle at the Log Pavilion in Aberdeen, WA where her adopted mother got married as well. (Sidenote: my mom and stepdad were married here too and it is a beautiful place on the water!) This family has been through a lot of ups and downs, so it is great to hear what an amazing year they’ve had. I’m so happy that Lacey’s family is expanding, too. Shortly after the wedding, Lacey and Bryan found out they were pregnant! I know that little nugget will be surrounded with a lot of love.

In 2007, I was working as a teller at the Bank of the Pacific, where I talked to many people each day. July 2007 was when I first realized how passionate people were about their wedding date. A wedding was no where near my radar at that point in life, so I never even thought about it. I met so many brides and people attending weddings on 7-7-07 that summer… and it is a pretty small bank! TIME magazine dubbed it the “Most Popular Wedding Day Ever”.

The next iconic date will be Saturday, 12-13-14 so book now! That date will definitely fill up fast.
