How to Make a Raised Garden Bed
May 2, 2015
Our house had a garden before we moved in, but it was only about 8″ tall. This is fine if you don’t have a dog. So last year after we remodeled our kitchen, I used the old kitchen drawers to plant vegetables and give the garden some character. The post on how to build a […]
DIY Christmas Gift Crafts (Or Other Time-of-Year Gifts!)
December 27, 2014
My friend Kelli (www.livingwellbykel.com) and I attended our first barter fair a few weeks ago with some of our handmade crafts and canned food. I posted the photo below to my Instagram and told a few people what we made. Since I was asked how to make these items, I wanted to share the links […]
How to Refinish Wood Furniture – desk, dresser, vanity
November 9, 2014
My grandma gave me a wood vanity with a large mirror that had been in storage for a long time. It needed to be stained or repainted to use. Since we had no furniture for our nautical room yet, this was a perfect addition. For nautical room ideas, see this blog post. MATERIALS Second-hand wood vanity […]
Anchor Wedding Garter Belt – Where to Customize Yours
September 26, 2014
One day, in my nautical-wedding-craze, I was searching “#anchor” on Instagram and found Mama’s Little Baby. The shop had just made a cute anchor headband / hairbow for little girls! Although I don’t own any kids (I don’t even sound like I should have one), I still enjoy seeing her new items, photography, and watching her online […]

We are SOOOO excited to have a functioning kitchen again! And a beautiful one at that! The short white cabinet on the right side will have something under it. […]

Happy 4th of July! Many homes celebrate this day with decorating their outdoor spaces, having BBQs, and watching the fireworks. If you are looking for an outdoor craft this 4th of July and have wood strips, try this project! My college roommate, Sara, painted an American flag this year for her porch in Little Rock, […]
Surviving a Kitchen Remodel
July 2, 2014
Every couple’s love is tested throughout their relationship. I think a kitchen remodel among planning a wedding is one of the bigger challenges we have faced. Those of you who have done major house projects with your significant other know what I’m talking about and are probably nodding in agreement. Someone even told me their biggest […]

June 25, 2014
Everyday is a new surprise when I come home. Yesterday, the under cabinet lighting and microwave were installed! (Some other less noticeable things were accomplished too.) Our lights are GE LED Under Cabinet Light and this photo was taken at night. Hopefully soon the oven will be installed!
DIY Dresser & Nightstand Makeover: Sangria Colored Paint

Our roommate, Dena, has acquired a lot of furniture from friends and family for (wow, that’s a long alliteration of Fs) her new adventure in Seattle. {And BONUS she was just hired last week for a new job closer to her new place!!} We will actually both be working on Mercer Island now which is by Seattle. We […]
Demolishing Our Kitchen
May 15, 2014
Let the destruction begin! I always thought demo was the fun part of remodeling… it’s actually really hard. We started the demo by pulling up all the floor tiles, which was surprisingly, deceptively easy. You can see tiles on the edge of the hall landing in the photo below. Our floor has four layers: subfloor, plywood, […]
